You know what makes a great sports assortment. Not just what sells, but what should sell - the brands worth backing, the white spaces nobody's filled yet, the difference between trend and noise. PlayBlue needs that instinct, paired with the commercial rigour to back it up.
What you'll own
End-to-end buying across Apparel, Footwear, Equipment, and Nutrition. You'll build the assortment that defines how PlayBlue looks and feels - curated, performance-first, with enough edge to stand apart from every generic sporting goods shelf in India.
That means managing key brand relationships and onboarding the next generation of D2C and performance brands before everyone else finds them. It means leading commercial negotiations - margins, exclusives, marketing support - and knowing when to push and when to hold. It means owning your OTB, your inventory turns, your sell-through, and your markdowns. The numbers tell a story; you'll be the one writing it.
You'll work closely with Retail, E-com, Marketing, and VM to make sure great product doesn't just sit on a shelf - it gets the launch, the storytelling, and the visibility it deserves.
What we're looking for
6–10 years in buying or merchandising, ideally in sports, athleisure, or premium fashion retail. You should genuinely understand the sportswear and sneaker ecosystem - not from a spreadsheet, but from living in it. Strong negotiation instincts, data fluency, and a track record of building assortments that move.
